Upcoming Art Exhibitions Fall 2017
from Ohio to five venues in the Southeast
2017 is proving to be the busiest Fall I have ever had. My work is involved in six exhibitions! I have gone from art-maker to logistics manager. The biggest show is at the Mansfield Art Center in Mansfield, Ohio with 33 paintings. This long-planned exhibit involves not only my work but also Kristy’s artists’ books plus they will install the artwork from The Other Brother and screen the documentary. Thank you to Director George Whitten for picking up and returning the work and Timothy Gorka for creating the opportunity!
I am also showing at Claflin University and Anderson Art Center through the 50th anniversary of the SC Arts Commission’s Fellowship program. I received, as well as Kristy, a visual arts fellowship in 1980. It provided us with start-up funds for what is now Mountain Tea Studios.
Coming up soon in Greenville, I am showing at Riverworks Gallery with one of my favorite artists, Kevin Isgett. I met Kevin in his studio several years ago and am honored to share an exhibit with him. His provocative portraits of imaginary people are quite impressive. The show is titled “Stories We Tell” and highlights the narrative qualities of both our works.
Additionally, my work will be in a group exhibition at ifART Gallery in Columbia, SC and will have a painting @ the SC State Museum’s permanent collection exhibition.
It has been exhausting but satisfying to have so much work available to see. Please join me if you are in the area.
