The Other Brother
Initiated by the Florence County Musem and the Florence Regional Arts Alliance
with support from the Florence Film Society
We spent a memorable evening at the Florence County Museum screening The Other Brother, thanks to a joint effort between the museum, the Florence Regional Arts Alliance and the Florence Film Society. The chairs were filled and the Q&A at the end was a thoughtful discussion on family estrangements and mental illness. Thank you to Andrew Stout, the director and Ushi Jeffcoat, FRAA, for a memorable end to our screening schedule in the Southeast. We are also grateful for the professional set-up provided by Tim Streit and Andrew Bates and the Florence Film Society’s Quarterly Art House Film Series. The arts are alive and well in downtown Florence!
The Florence Film Society, co-founded by Andrew Bates, Director of Technology and Distribution, and Tim Streit, Director of Communications, has been striving to bring art cinema culture to the surrounding area since 2013 by holding regular monthly screenings of important and classic films at Lula’s Coffee Company. This has helped create a greater presence for art house cinema in Florence, and has provided building blocks for the Film Society’s bigger vision – to see local filmmakers and film enthusiasts have a greater voice in South Carolina, through film festivals, and, eventually, a local art cinema in Florence, South Carolina.
